How do you get started? Try these warm ups and workouts!

Stretches

Before you engage in any strenuous workout, make sure you stretch the muscles in your chest and arms. You may also consider doing a little cardio to help get the blood flowing to your muscles.

Push ups

These are probably the most well know, and popular, chest exercises you can do without any equipment needed. If you haven’t done one in awhile, here’s how it works. Get down on the ground with your hands placed flat on the ground. Keep your back and legs straight, and balance on your toes. Your body should be a straight line, parallel to the ground. Now, slowly lower yourself until your almost touching the floor without bending your knees or back. Use your arms to do all the work. Then, lift yourself back to the starting position.

Chin ups

This exercise will require a bar that you can insert in your doorways. You can also use kids playground equipment if you have something suitable outside. Place your hands on the bar, and use your arms to lift yourself up until your chin is above it. Lower yourself back down. Although this is used primarily to work the arms, it also gives your chest muscles a good workout.

Presses

You can also use free weights, or exercise equipment, to work your chest and arm muscles. There are various positions you can try when doing these, just make sure you keep your arms straight, and that you don’t move too quickly. When doing presses, you would generally hold your arms outward with your fists bent toward the ceiling. Weight would be in your hands, or you may use equipment. Keeping your upper arms parallel to the ground, move your arms inward so that your forearms are side by side in front of your face. Return to starting position.
